Every event, from a birthday party to a large community festival, requires organization, task lists, time lines and a great attention to detail to be successful. Multiply that process by 10 or more events and you could have a major traffic control problem if you don’t have a system to ‘land the next plane’ and prioritize your tasks. You could find yourself with major problems or forgotten details that leave your event attendees disappointed or worse, end up with a major issue that makes your event memorable in a way you wouldn’t want to be remembered! Explore the process behind managing multiple events simultaneously while bringing each one in safely for a landing, and gearing up to do it all over again!

Why the Selection of a Good Ticketing Platform Is Important

There are hundreds of ticketing platforms out there – it’s extremely important to select one that will offer you good customer service. Hear how Amy Maxwell of Ticket Tomato was able to help the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festivals navigate through difficult circumstances, as well as other clients. Because of raging fires in the Winthrop area, it started raining ash on the famed Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival. Organizers thought it couldn’t get any worse, and then it did. Highway 20 – the main highway into Winthrop – was closed due to the fire, preventing attendees from getting there. And then the Crowdstrike tech disaster shut down airlines, preventing four of their bands who were due to perform from getting there. Hear how they handled the worst of problems.

The Washington Festivals and Events Association has established a certification program that will offer the ultimate educational and achievement experience for WFEA members. The Association will offer it at its annual conference in Bellevue.

Registrants who attend the all-day pre-convention sponsorship workshop on Monday, October 29th can earn CLEP credit.

The CLEP program will offer all-day, in-depth educational sessions and hands-on experience at festivals and events that will provide event professionals knowledge at the highest level of their field. Upon completion of requirements, graduates will earn the title of Certified Live Event Planner (CLEP).

“It will also offer recognition to people who have gone the extra step to learn about the festivals and events industry,” said WFEA Executive Director Bruce Skinner. “With it will come increased professional status and potentially compensation.”

The WFEA Certification program is overseen by the WFEA Professional Education Board of Managers, a body appointed and made up of top industry professionals and educators. The Board establishes the curriculum, engages faculty, provides expertise, and monitors progress by students seeking certification.
